Texas State Disc Golf Championships presented by Lone Star Disc

I wrote my first blog post right before the open at Austin started. and Last weekend, the United States Women’s Disc Golf Championship took place in Austin, Texas at the new sprinkle Valley course. It was an awesome course to watch, even though i caught a majority of the coverage through jomezpro (post-production). Missy gannon, sponsored by discraft, secured her first major victory with an impressive -12 with a tournament average rating of 1004. She also took home $12,000. Big. Money. Missy.

Anyway, the point being, i wasn’t sure how i wanted to approach covering the disc golf from week to week. I didn’t want to jump right into the preview of the Open at Austin because it was the day before it started, but i knew I wanted to start the process with a full preview post. i landed on starting with Texas State Championships so that I could preview both divisions, which will usually be the case throughout the year.

The tournament is a three day event taking place in Houston, texas at Brock park. coverage will be on Disc Golf network with post-production coverage available on jomezpro. Fpo will start at 9:30 am CT and Mpo will get under way at 2:30 ct.

This is the second year that the pro tour will be stopping in houston and brock park. Last year, this was a silver series event with calvin heimburg winning in mpo and sai ananda taking home the victory in fpo. I checked out the caddie book for both divisions and the courses are largely unchanged from last year. fpo will be playing brock park diamond, boasting a par of 63 at 7,675 feet (121 feet shorter than 2023). mpo will be at brock park premier, coming in at a par of 63 at 10,001 feet (122 feet longer than 2023). That is a quick high level view of what the courses hold. Tomorrow will have a deeper discussion on the mpo field and predictions. Same thing to come on thursday for fpo.
